Cancellation Fee and Payment Terms

Cancellation of Insurance Agreements

When you take out an insurance policy through Forsia, there is typically a one-year binding period. However, it is possible to cancel the agreement earlier for a fee, which depends on the type of insurance (see below).

  • 💡 If you sell your home, vacation home, car, or lose a pet, the corresponding insurance can be canceled without any fee or notice period.

After the first year, insurance can be canceled with a notice period of one month + ongoing month. If you cancel on the main due date and give at least one month's notice, there is no cancellation fee.

Cancellation Fees

  • 🔹 After 12 months (outside of the main due date): 75 DKK per policy
  • Within the first 12 months:
  • Home, vacation home, car, motorcycle, and building: 600 DKK per policy
  • Other insurances: 300 DKK per policy

Payment Options

We offer monthly or annual payments on most insurance policies. By choosing annual payment, you save 4%. However, car and pet insurance are exceptions, as the price remains the same regardless of the payment frequency.

Betalingsservice (PBS)

Most of our customers choose to sign up for Betalingsservice (PBS) because it ensures automatic, fee-free payments – both for monthly and annual payments. As one of the few insurance companies in Denmark, Forsia does not charge extra fees for PBS payments.

Payment via Giro Card

If you prefer to pay manually, you can receive a giro card to pay through online banking. Please note that an administrative fee of 30 DKK per payment is added.

Public Charges and Environmental Contributions

In Denmark, the state imposes various charges on insurance policies, which go toward help funds and environmental initiatives. These charges are automatically collected along with the insurance premium and will be clearly displayed on your invoice.

Insurance Tax

  • 1.1% of the annual premium is collected as a state tax upon new sign-ups, changes, and renewals of your insurance. However, certain insurance policies, such as car liability insurance, are exempt as they have separate state taxes.

Environmental Contribution

  • Applies to liability insurance for passenger cars and vans.
  • Fixed annual charge: 84 DKK.

Natural Damage Contribution

  • Collected on fire insurance for buildings and home contents.
  • Fixed annual charge: 40 DKK.

These funds are used to cover flood damage and replanting of private forests after natural disasters.
